Transformers & Galvanic Isolators

Three product families live here, and the difference matters. Isolation transformers (2000–8000 W) galvanically separate your boat from shore power — they stop electrolytic corrosion and remove the shock hazard of a faulty shore ground. Autotransformers (120/240 V, 32–100 A) step voltage up or down and balance split-phase loads for American equipment — note that an autotransformer provides no galvanic isolation: if isolation is what you need, it is not the product to buy. Galvanic isolators VDI are the compact alternative: a diode block in the shore ground wire that blocks low-voltage corrosion currents while keeping the safety earth intact.
