VICTRON ENERGY - SPR00053 - PCBA for shunt BMV 602S/700/702/712
This is the small circuit board that sits on the shunt of a Victron BMV battery monitor, sold on its own as a spare part. It fits the shunt of the BMV-602S, BMV-700, BMV-702 and BMV-712 Smart.
What it does
The shunt itself is only a calibrated resistor. This board is screwed onto it with two M4 screws, picks up the millivolt signal across the resistor, and carries the RJ12 socket through which the monitor's head unit is connected, plus the terminal for the battery positive sense wire. Without it, the shunt and the monitor cannot talk to each other.
When you need it
- Replacement — the board has been damaged, usually by a wiring mistake or a reversed connection.
- Second shunt — you are keeping the original shunt wired in place and want a board for another one, instead of moving it back and forth.
If you are fitting a larger shunt (1000 A, 2000 A or 6000 A) to an existing BMV, you do not normally need this part: chapter 3.7 of the BMV manual has you unscrew the original board and move it onto the new shunt.
Important
This is the board only — the shunt is not included, and neither is the BMV head unit. It is a spare part for an existing installation, not a starting point for a new one.
