VICTRON ENERGY - BAM030712000 - Battery Monitor BMV-712 Smart
The BMV-712 Smart is the top model of the BMV range: a BMV-702 with Bluetooth built in. State of charge, time to go, ampere-hours, the auxiliary input (second battery, midpoint or temperature) and the full history are on the panel and in the VictronConnect app on your phone — including setup, alarms and firmware updates, without any dongle.
This variant: standard light-grey front, standard packaging.
How it works
The shunt goes in the main battery’s negative lead and every amp in and out passes through it. The head unit reads the shunt, integrates the current over time and shows voltage, current, power, ampere-hours consumed, state of charge and time to go. It stores 46 days of trends (voltage, current, state of charge and the auxiliary input) plus the lifetime history — deepest discharge, cycles, full discharges, cumulative Ah, minimum and maximum voltage — which VictronConnect draws as graphs. The auxiliary input takes one extra wire: to the starter battery’s positive, to the midpoint of a series bank (early warning for a failing cell) or to the optional temperature sensor (ASS000100000). A bistable relay (60 V / 1 A) can drop non-critical loads or start a generator; the VE.Direct port connects it to a GX device for VRM remote monitoring.
How it differs from the other BMV models
Compared with the BMV-702: Bluetooth inside, and a self-consumption of < 1 mA instead of < 4 mA — which matters on lithium batteries left at low state of charge, where every milliamp counts. The supply range is 6.5–70 V (the 700 / 702 go to 95 V), which still covers 12, 24 and 48 V systems. Compared with the BMV-700 you also gain the auxiliary input. If you don’t need a display at all, the SmartShunt does the same job without a head unit; for 60–385 V banks see the BMV-710H Smart.
What’s in the box
Head unit with square and round front bezels and rear securing ring, 500 A / 50 mV shunt with quick-connect circuit board, 10 m RJ12 UTP cable between shunt and head unit, battery cable with 1 A slow-blow fuse for the positive connection. The temperature sensor is not included.
