DESCRIPTION
The Megger DCM340 digital clamp meter is a highly versatile instrument, ideal for the installation, maintenance, monitoring or checking of AC and DC electrical systems and equipment. Capable of measuring AC and DC current up to 600 A, AC and DC voltage up to 600 V, resistance up to 400 Ω and frequency up to 400 Hz, it is the most versatile model in the DCM series. Current measurement combined with the comprehensive multimeter functions eliminates the need to carry both a clamp meter and a multimeter – this instrument does it all.
The large, clear digits of the numeric display are complemented by a high-resolution digital bargraph, useful for indicating trends and fluctuations. The backlight assists use in poorly lit areas such as distribution cupboards, and the data-hold feature enables use on difficult-access cables where the display may otherwise be impossible to see. MIN/MAX hold stores the maximum and minimum DC or RMS values over a period of time; peak hold captures the maximum and minimum peak of an AC signal at a 10 ms sample rate – ideal for identifying start-up currents of motors and heaters. The Relative (REL) mode zeroes the instrument at a stored value so that any variation is displayed directly. Auto power-off after 30 minutes can be disabled for long MIN/MAX recordings.
APPLICATIONS
Besides general electrical installation and fault finding, the DC current capability makes the DCM340 suitable for domestic power generation from solar panels and wind turbines, battery monitoring, automotive charging and load circuits, electric vehicle servicing (e.g. fork-lift trucks), lift maintenance, UPS commissioning and servicing, electro-plating plants and welding equipment.
